Several McShane chimestands, including this one, have hold-down swivels between every pair of keys, and even beyond the end keys. Most of them are useless; only the ones adjacent to added semitones are ever used. In the photo at right, the sharp 4th is held down out of the way, which simplifies the chimer's playing in the tonic key of this instrument. /CSZ/
